CINDERELLA AT EDINBURGH

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND -- Mariinsky Ballet will bring its famed production of CINDERELLA to the Edinburgh International Festival on 30 August and 1 September at the Festival Theatre.
    

    
The Russian company has reinterpreted Charles Perrault's classic fairytale, with the late Sergei Prokofiev providing the music, Alexi Ratmansky the choreography. Valery Gergiev will conduct the full Mariinsky Orchestra in a live performance of Prokofiev's voluptuous musical score.

The Festival will also offer the European premiere of TATYANA by the Rio-based Deborah Colker Dance Company. An adaptation of Pushkin's Eugene Onegin, the ballet has a soundtrack comprised of music by Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Terry Riley. Pushkin's story has been transposed from 19th-century Russia to contemporary, sultry Brazil.
