L.A. PHILHARMONIC GOES SOUTH

The Los Angeles Philharmonic will appear at Segerstrom Hall at Orange County Performing Arts Center on May 18 with a program that includes
Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, Op. 16 and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36. Conducting will be Esa-Pekka Salonen. Yefim Bronfman is the featured pianist. The Philharmonic returns to The Center for the first time since Salonen's recent sabbatical.

Another May attraction at Segerstrom is Richard Strauss' AN ALPINE SYMPHONY, a complex and vivid work calling for a vast orchestra of more than 130 musicians. Pacific Symphony Orchestra will tackle the symphony, plus Schuman's CONCERTO FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA featuring the Kappell Competition medalist Hsing-ay Hsu. Call (714) 556-ARTS.
