CHAMBER MUSIC UNDER THE STARS

LOS ANGELES -- The Ford Theatre Foundation's summer CHAMBER MUSIC UNDER THE STARS season includes the Brahms Piano Trio on Mon. July 21 at 8 PM. Works by Beethoven, Dvorak and Ravel will be performed.

On Mon. August 25 at 8 PM the Calder String Quartet & Friends will take the stage with a program of pieces by Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn.

The St. Petersburg Sring Quartet is next, on Mon. Sept. 8 at 8 PM, offering music by Haydn, Borodin and Dvorak.

Season tickets (all three concerts) cost $60. Adult single ticket prices are $25. Student & children's tickets are $12 each.

MUSIC AT THE EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND -- The 2003 festival program includes everything from the Korean storytelling tradition PANSORI to large- scale orchestral and choral concerts from French baroque music performed by Ian Bostridge and Emmanuel Haim to contemporary music influenced by the traditions of China, India and Japan.

The complete BEETHOVEN STRING QUARTETS will be presented in chronological order over three days and the complete STRING QUARTETS OF ELLIOTT CARTER will be heard in an evening. The Los Angeles Philharmonic is in residence for a week, and Alfred Brendel, Andras Schiff, Grigory Sokolov and Thomas Quasthoff will all give recitals.
