Los Angeles County Museum has announced its 2004-2005 season. Changes are afoot: there will no longer be concerts on Wednesdays; Rosalinde Gilbert Concerts have been moved to Tuesdays and Ensemble Residency Concerts are now on Mondays, along with Monday Evening Concerts. The budget cuts are "a painful reminder that the museum is not immune to the state of the economy," said Dorrance Stalveyt, director of music programs. Among the Nov/Dec attractions are MUSIC FROM ITALY, a Mon. Nov 22 concert by Stefano Scodanibbio and guest artist Dennis Tremblay. The two contrabasses will sing works by Luciano Berio, Franco Donatoni and Scodanibbio himself. On Mon. Nov. 29, the Arditti Quartet will perform works by Rihm, Ferneyhough, Nancarrow, Usher and Clarke. XTET is next up, on Mon. Dec. 13, offering works by Crockett (West Coast premiere), Takemitsu and Plakidis. LACMA is located at 5905 Wilshire Blvd. For tickets and information call (323) 857-6010 or visit lacma.org |
