LOS ANGELES MASTER CHORALE'S NEW SEASON
Los Angeles Master Chorale has announced its 2019/20 season.
"It's a surprising mix of the familiar and unfamiliar, inviting you
to find joy in making connections between old and new works," said
artistic director Grant Gershon. "I hope you'll join us and revel
in the remarkable sound worlds that our unparalleled singers create for
you."
The season commences on October 19 & 20 with a recital of Bruckner's
"Great Mass" and Osvaldo Golijov's "Oceana" (an LA
premiere). Gershon conducts a 100-person chorus, orchestra, and a boy
soloist. Luciana Souza is the guest soloist.
The Master
Chorale's season will continue in December with three concerts. First
up is a "Festival of Carols," with Eric Whitacre conducting
(Dec. 7 & Dec. 14); it will be followed on Sunday, Dec. 15 with a
25th-anniversary production of Morton Laurindsen's classic "O Magnum
Mysterium." Completing the bill will be works by Nico Muhly and Dale
Trumbore.
On Wed. Dec. 19, the Master Chorale will offer its 39th annual "Messiah
Sing Along," a popular do-it-yourself recital where the audience
is the chorus. Bring your own score or purchase one in the lobby.
All concerts are at Walt Disney Concert Hall. For tickets and information

the Fiato String Quartet will give Southern California recitals on October
28, 29 and 30, at 8 pm.

Ryan Sweeney and violaist Aaron Oltman, plus guests Erik Rynearson and
Trevor Handy) will perform Brahms' String Quartet in B-Flat Major, Op.18
and String Sextet in G Major, Op 36.
The Music Guild's concerts take place on consecutive nights at three different
venues: University Synagogue, Brentwood; Daniel Recital Hall, Cal State
Long Beach; and Adat Ari El Temple, N. Hollywood.
Complimentary coffee and pastries are served on Monday and Wednesdays,
7.30 to 8pm, and at intermission.
