HOUSTON-- The Houston Grand Opera will present for the first time Leos
Janacek's THE MAKROPOULOS CASE. The six-performance run is from April 19-May 3, with Catherine Malfitano starring as Emilia Marty. Other key
singers include Jonathan Summers, Richard Sutliff, Robert Brubaker, Joseph Evans, Chad Shelton, Kristin Reiersn and Ryland Davies. Elijah Moshinsky's production will make its Houston debut. Moshinsky created this "spectacular production" (Opera News) for the Met in 1996, and it will be remounted in Houston by Stephen Pickover and conducted by Steven Sloane. The opera is sung in Czech with English subtitles.
