May/June 2005 Called "a force of nature" by the Sunday Telegraph (UK), the inimitable bass-baritone Bryn Terfel will make his first staged appearance with Los Angeles Opera in his signature portrayal of Sir John Falstaff in Verdi's final masterpiece, FALSTAFF. The opera will run during May & June at the Music Center, in repertory with Richard Strauss' beloved romantic comedy DER ROSENKAVALIER. The latter
production will be directed by Academy Award-winner Maximilian Schell,
who made his local debut in 2001 with Lohengrin. Teamed up with him is
production designer Gottfried Helnwein, who is an internationally recognized
painter, draftsman, photographer, muralist, sculptor and performance artist.
