L.A. OPERA'S 2007/08 SEASON

LOS ANGELES -- Further details about L.A. Opera's 2007/08 season have been announced by the company. The season, which will run from Sept. 8, 2007 to June 28, 2008, features sixty-three performances of nine productions.

Beethoven's FIDELIO is first up, with James Conlon conducting the co-production (with a Spanish company). It stars Anja Kampe as Leonore and Klaus Floridian Vogt as Florestan. When the gifted young soprano Kampe made her debut in Fidelio at Glyndebourne last summer, one critic said "she's a charismatic Leonore...everything she does is charged with emotional commitment." Vogt drew this comment from Welt Am Sontag: "Last season, this young heldentenor wowed audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with a stunning Met debut in Lohengrin and an inspired, radiant Florestan in Bonn."

Other major singers appearing in 2007/08 at L.A. Opera include Karita Mattila (Jenufa), Erwin Schrott (Don Giovanni), Maija Kovalevska (La Boheme), Linda Watson (Tristan Und Isolde), Christina Gallardo-Domas (Otello), Mary Dunleavy (The Broken Jug), Adrianne Pieczonka (Tosca), and Patricia Racette (La Rondine).

Bry Terfel will give a solo recital on Sunday, April 20, 2008.
