Verdi’s Otello, Live from the LA Opera stage to the big screen, under
the stars at the Santa Monica Pier and at Cal State Dominguez Hills

Gather your
blankets and lawn chairs, pack your picnic and experience the music and
drama of Otello under the stars. Verdi’s operatic transformation
of the original Shakespeare tragedy is a powerful drama of uncontrolled
human emotion at its most extreme. A hero descends into a tortured heart
of darkness and is steadily manipulated into destroying all in life that
he holds dear. The performance will star tenor Russell Thomas, as Otello
and will be conducted by Music Director James Conlon.
This event is open to all ages. There will be arts and crafts activities
for families to enjoy before the simulcast begins. Food & beverages
will be available for purchase from food trucks and event Beer Garden
(Santa Monica Pier only).
