Noted Israeli playwright Joshua Sobol brings his explosive new drama iWITNESS to the Mark Taper Forum, April 9-May 21. Translated from the Hebrew by Sobol and Barry Edelstein (who also directs), the play deals with a man who died for his beliefs over 60 years ago. Based on the true story of Franz Jaegerstatter, an Austrian farmer who was executed in Berlin in 1943 for his refusal to wear a Nazi uniform and serve in the army, the play takes place on Jaegerstatter's last day in prison when he is visited by friends and family who plead with him to relent.
