ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD BECOMES THE LITTLE PRINCE

HOUSTON -- Following a nation-wide search for a boy soprano, Houston Grand Opera announced that 11-year-old Nathaniel Irvin from Maple Grove, Minnesota, has been cast in the title role of the world premiere of Rachel Portman's THE LITTLE PRINCE. Also chosen in the search to serve as covers for the role are two Houstontonians, 14-year-old John Preston and 11-year-old Evan Henke.

THE LITTLE PRINCE, HGO's 27th world premiere, is based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The book, considered a literary clasic, has been translated into various languages and has also been turned into a play, a movie and, most recently, a cartoon series by Nickelodeon.

THE LITTLE PRINCE opens Sat. May 31 and runs through June 22. For tickets and information call (713) 228-OPERA or (800) 62-OPERA.
