for September/October 2006: HOTEL C'EST L'AMOUR LOS ANGELES -- The Blank Theatre Co., recipient of the 2005 Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Production (The Wild Party) presents on Sept. 26 the world premiere of HOTEL C'EST L'AMOUR, with songs by Michael John LaChiusa, directed by Daniel Henning. The limited engagement will run at 2nd Stage Theatre, 6500 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. Created for The Blank by the director and composer of The Wild Party, HOTEL C'EST L'AMOUR takes you to a magical honeymoon where a young bride and groom try to shed their separate pasts in order to begin married life together. Using songs from composer LaChiusa's produced and unproduced works, HOTEL C'EST L'AMOUR is billed as "a musical Rorschach Test, open to your interpretation." The Blank Theatre Co. recently concluded a successful run of Kira Obolensky's comedy, Lobster Alice. Starring Noah Wylie, Dorie Barton, Nicholas Brendon and Michael Grant Terry, the play was set in 1946 and dealt with famed surrealist artist Salvador Dali (Wylie), who spent six weeks at Walt Disney Studios working on a short animated film, with near-disastrous but amusing results.
