HELEN LAWRENCE is set in Vancouver, 1948, at a time when "wrath,
greed, sloth, pride, lust and gluttony all take a turn in a time of fear.
The police make pacts with the gangsters who run the whorehouses and gambling
joints as Vancouver reinvents itself in
the aftermath of the Second World War."
HELEN LAWRENCE was conceived by Stan Douglas and written by Douglas and
Chris Haddock. It's a co-production by Canadian Stage, Vancouver Arts
Club Theatre Company, The Banff Centre, Stan
Douglas Inc, Festival TransAmeriques and Canada's National Arts Centre.
