SOUTH EAST EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL
SEEfest--the annual SOUTH EAST EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL--returns to Los
Angeles for the fourteenth time, May 1-8, with a large
selection of feature and documentary films. The venues are the
Writers Guild Theatre, Laemmle Music Hall and West Hollywood
Council Chambers/Library Campus.
Founded in 2006 by Vera Mijoljic, long-time film critic and
cultural entrepreneur, SEEfest presents cinematic and cultural
diversity of South East Europe to American audiences and creates
cultural connections through films, artistic and social events.
The 2019 schedule includes ten films by Greek or Cypriot
filmmakers, including two full-length features: "Scopophilia"
and
"Sunrise in Kimmeria." Another highlight is "Tax Evasion:
A Greek
National
Sport." This 22-minute comedic documentary, directed by
Kelly Sari, searches for the answer to the question: why do so many
Greeks avoid paying their taxes?
The entire festival lineup is available at seefilmla.org/2019-
films. Festival passes are on sale at eventbrite.
