November/December 2004 LOS ANGELES NEWS NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE Ballet Preljocaj will mount the West Coast premiere of NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE at Royce Hall, UCLA on Fri. & Sat. Nov. 12-13 at 8 PM. An exploration of varying states of consciousness, NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE strives to evoke "that impending sense of being ravished by love, sexual desire or emotional ephiphany, those swooning out-of-body moments that hover on the verge of ecstasy." The music is by Air, a duo which has won international acclaim for its dreamy space pop albums, "Moon Safari," "Talkie Walkie" and the soundtrack for Sofia Coppola's "The Virgin Suicides." The dance works of French-born Albanian Angelin Preljocaj have left an indelible mark on international ballet, including his dramatically modern take on "Romeo and Juliet" (at UCLA Live in 1998).
