NATIONAL BALLET OF CHINA VISITS ORANGE COUNTY

COSTA MESA, CA -- The National Ballet of China will visit the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Sept. 20-25. Founded in the 1950s by renowned dance master Pyotyr Gusev, his ballerina wife Olga Munalova), and aided by such Chinese teachers as Dai Ailian and Zhao Ruheng (the present director of the company), National Ballet of China survived the Cultural Revolution to become a force on the international dance scene.

Specializing in Classical and Chinese dance, the company recently turned the popular Chinese film Raise the Red Lantern into a tumultuous ballet that has won praise from major critics.

OCPAC will also present two evenings of Spanish dance when Jose Porcel brings his BALLET FLAMENCO company to Segerstrom Hall, Oct. 27-29.
