March/April 2006 MATTHEW BOURNE'S SWAN LAKE RETURNS LOS ANGELES -- Matthew Bourne brings his updated version of SWAN LAKE back to the Ahmanson Theatre for two weeks only, March 8-19. The music is by Tchaikovsky; direction and choreography, Bourne. Perhaps best known for replacing the traditional corps de ballet with a male ensemble of swans, Bourne blends dance, style, humor, spectacle, character, comedy and mime to create a new and provocative SWAN LAKE for the 21st century. NUEVO BALLET ESPANOL LOS ANGELES -- Jose Limon's acclaimed dance company will perform March 25 & 26 at the Ahmanson Theatre as part of the Dance at the Music Center series. Founded in 1946 by Limon and Doris Humphrey, the company is now led by Carla Maxwell, who worked closely with Limon before taking over as artistic director in 1978. The program
includes MISSA BREVIS, choreographed by Limon, and THE CHIAROSCURO PROJECT

They formed the Madrid-based company in 1995, after winning best-dancer awards at the 1994 Dance and Flamenco Annual Choreography competition.
