DANCE AT THE MUSIC CENTER OFFERS JOSE LIMON AND

NUEVO BALLET ESPANOL

LOS ANGELES -- Jose Limon's acclaimed dance company will perform March 25 & 26 at the Ahmanson Theatre as part of the Dance at the Music Center series.

Founded in 1946 by Limon and Doris Humphrey, the company is now led by Carla Maxwell, who worked closely with Limon before taking over as artistic director in 1978.

The program includes MISSA BREVIS, choreographed by Limon, and THE CHIAROSCURO PROJECT (working title), choreographed by Lar Lubovitch.

Nuevo Ballet Espanol will also dance twice at the Music Center's Ahmanson Theatre, on April 22-23rd, featuring FLAMENCO DIRECTO, choreographed by the company's founders and lead dancers, Carlos Rodriguez and Angel Rojas.

They formed the Madrid-based company in 1995, after winning best-dancer awards at the 1994 Dance and Flamenco Annual Choreography competition. They seek to celebrate the traditional art of flamenco by bringing it into the 21st century and to a wider international audience.
