for January/February 2012 LONG BEACH OPERA'S SPECIAL EVENTS LONG BEACH, CA -- Long Beach Opera will present several special events during its 2012 season, including EL TANGO TE LLAMA, an exploration of the tango with historian Gregorio Luke and the cast of LBO's season-opener, Marie de Buenos Aires. From Paris to Zanzibar, a surrealist stage production, will be mounted about the time of LBO's second production, the surreal double bill Breasts of Tiresias and Tears of a Knife. Subsequent events include an in-person interview with David Henry Hwang (in collaboration with the L.A. Museum of Art; and Journey Into the Mind, an exploration of the psyche with UCLA psychiatrist Dr Kenneth B. Wells in advance of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. Film showings have also been scheduled for 2012, including The Good Fight, the story of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade during the Spanish Civil War; and The Music Never Stopped, based on a case study by Dr Oliver Sacks.
