for July/August 2012 SEVEN EVENINGS OF OPERA AT EIF EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND -- Seven opera productions are on tap at the 2012 Edinburgh International Festival during the months of August and September. First up
is Opera North's new version of Leos Janacek's THE MAKROPULOS CASE, directed
by Tom Cairns, conducted by Richard Farnes. August 11 & 13 at Festival

Adapted by Zoe Strachen from a play by Henrik Ibsen, THE LADY FROM THE SEA tells the story of Elida, daughter of a lighthouse-keeper, who lives a narrow life with a husband several years her senior. She is full of longing for the sea and for freedom, until the arrival of a mysterious stranger creates a storm that threatens to tear apart the whole family.
