Berlioz's visionary LES TROYENS (adapted from Virgil) is opera on an epic scale, and deals with some of mankind's profoundest questions in a work of exceptional power and sensual lyricism. The Marlinsky Opera was last seen at the 2011 Edinburgh International Festival in its acclaimed production of Strauss's Die Frau ohne Schatten. LES TROYENS is five hours and thirty minutes long. Two intervals include a 45-minute supper break. Among the lead singers are Sergei Semishkur, Ekaterina Gubanova and Alexei Markov. (44-131-473-2000 or eif.co.uk/troyens) |
