Music News for July/August 2011:
SCOTTISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
EDINBURGH,
SCOTLAND -- The Scottish Chamber Orchestra will play three works on Sunday
21 August at the Edinburgh International Festival: Ravel's Le tombeau
de Couperin; Toshio Hosokawa's Blossoming (EF commission; world premiere);
and Durufle's Requiem,
Robin Ticciati
will conduct; Magdalene Kozena and Simon Keelyside are the features singers,
backed up by the National Youth Choir of Scotland (Christopher Bell, chorus
master).
Ravel's
poignant composition is a beautifully emotive tribute to friends who died
in WW I, a heartfelt tribute to those who gave their lives during the
conflict.
The concert,
which will take place at Usher Hall, will be broadcast on 16 September
2011 on BBC Radio 3's Performance on 3.
