Classical
Music News for January/February 2012:
LOS ANGELES
-- The Music Guild, now in its 67th year, will present Carpe Diem String
Quartet in a series of February concerts featuring works by Hugo Wolf, Claude
Debussey, Korine Fujiwara and Felix Mendelssohn.
Carpe Diem
is one of the most versatile quartets of its generation. The group's eclectic
musical interests have led them down the paths of gypsy, tango, folk,
pop, rock and jazz-inspired music, while remaining equally at home with
traditional string quartet repertoire. In 2010 and 2011, Carpe Diem was
the only quartet in America chosen to receive prestigious ArtsAlive Awards
from the PNC Foundation.
The Music
Guild's concerts are held, on successive evenings, at Cal State Long Beach;
University Synagogue, Brentwood; and Cal State Northridge. For tickets
and information call 310-558-3500 or visit themusicguild.org.
