MUSIC GUILD'S 68th SEASON

LOS ANGELES -- The Music Guild has announced its 2012/13 season--the 68th in its illustrious history. Six concerts have been scheduled at three different venues: University Synagogue, Brentwood; Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall, Cal State Northridge; and Daniel Recital Hall, Cal State Long Beach. Starting time is 8pm.

Three favorite Music Guild ensembles will be featured during the coming season, along with three new ensembles. The roster includes Borromeo String Quartet; Euclid String Quartet; Piano Trio Voce; Henschel String Quartet; Lincoln Piano Trio; and the Lafayette String Quartet.

The season, which commences on Oct. 29, 2012 and runs through April 17, 2013, will showcase standard masterpieces, lesser-known works by famous composers, and others written by women composers, including the lyrical String Quartet in E Flat Major by Fanny Mendelssohn.
    

    
The Music Guild will also continue to give concerts in local schools, including the Ocean Charter School, Village Glen and Summit View Schools for autistic and learning-disabled children. Added this season is the Baron School, a special-needs institution located on the campus of Vista del Mar in Cheviot Hills. Concerts will also be mounted at Belmont Village for Alzheimer residents.

The Music Guild, a non-profit organization whose executive director is Eugene Golden, also raises funds for the purchase of musical instruments to be used in L.A.'s school system.

The Music Guild’s 69th season begins October 28-30 with the popular Borromeo String Quartet in a program featuring Beethoven’s String Quartet in F. Major, Op. 59, No. 1. and Schubert’s String Quartet in D Minor, D. 810. In the 2012-13 season, The music Guild Monday concerts will be at the University Synagogue in Brentwood, Tuesday at Cal State

Long Beach and Wednesday at Cal State Northridge.

This year’s concerts feature the Piano Trio Voce, November 26-28, the Lincoln Piano Trio, January 14-16, The Euclid String Quartet, February 11-13, German’s Henschel String Quartet (“One of the best in the world, LA Times) March 4-6 and the season ends with 25th anniversary tour of the Lafayette String Quartet April 15-17.
