DANCE AT THE WALLIS
There will be two outstanding dance recitals at The Wallis (Wallis Annenberg
Center for the Performing Arts, Beverly Hills) in the month of May.
On May 5-7, THE PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY will appear for the first time
at The Wallis in a program featuring three of its classic, ground-breaking
works (Syzgy, The Word and Esplanade.)
Described as Americas most magnificent dancing machine performing
Americas most deeply communicative and wildly theatrical modern
dance, the Paul Taylor Dance Company has performed in more than
500 cities in 64 countries over the last six decades. The company has
also appeared on PBS in ten different programs.
MATTHEW BOURNES EARLY ADVENTURES
On May 17-21, The Wallis will mount the exclusive American premiere of
MATTHEW BOURNES EARLY ADVENTURES, highlighting three of the celebrated
British choreographer/directors foundational works: Town and
Country, Walk with Mother and The Infernal Gallop.
Bournes
nascent wit and wondrous dance-making have won him numerous awards over
the years, including seven Olivier Awards (the last two for The
Red Shoes.) His Swan Lake is the worlds longest
running ballet production and made him the only British director to receive
the Tony Award for both Best Choreographer and Best Director of a Musical.
Among his other major credits are Edward Scissorhands and
Sleeping Beauty.
