News May/June 2017:

There will be two outstanding dance recitals at The Wallis (Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Beverly Hills) in the month of May.

On May 5-7, THE PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY will appear for the first time at The Wallis in a program featuring three of its classic, ground-breaking works (“Syzgy,” “The Word” and “Esplanade.”)

Described as “America’s most magnificent dancing machine performing America’s most deeply communicative and wildly theatrical modern dance,” the Paul Taylor Dance Company has performed in more than 500 cities in 64 countries over the last six decades. The company has also appeared on PBS in ten different programs.

On May 17-21, The Wallis will mount the exclusive American premiere of MATTHEW BOURNE’S EARLY ADVENTURES, highlighting three of the celebrated British choreographer/director’s foundational works: “Town and Country,” “Walk with Mother” and “The Infernal Gallop.”

Bourne’s nascent wit and wondrous dance-making have won him numerous awards over the years, including seven Olivier Awards (the last two for “The Red Shoes.”) His “Swan Lake” is the world’s longest running ballet production and made him the only British director to receive the Tony Award for both Best Choreographer and Best Director of a Musical. Among his other major credits are “Edward Scissorhands” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

The Wallis is located at 9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills. Call 310-746-4000 or visit
